Also what is the current exchange rate? It is a 1989 $1000 Peso coin that was found in Minnesota and brought back to Detroit. Most banks only take paper money, and Comerica will only exchange it if you have an account there, which I don't have.

A 1989 Mexican(you did not say what country) peso coin can not be exchanged for US money because that is an old demonitized coin.
As a collector the coin is worth $0.85.

Go to www.xe.com it gives all the exchange rates for all of the world's currancy. A long time ago the airport had a place to exchange foreign currancy, can not tell you if they are still around.

you may want to open up an account. I live in Detroit too. Go to some other banks. If you don't have enough money to open up a account, go to a credit union. Credit unions are usually 5 dolllars to open a account. Good luck!
