I think dogs are better because you can play with them and take them for walks.

yes but when it's cold and dark and you can't be bothered to take your dog for a walk you just open the door for a cat and off they go, they wil tap on the window when they want to come in.
Also when you are out al day you dont have to worry the cat flap is there and they sleep all day so dont know that you are gone for much and when you have no money untill payday just open a tin of Tuna and your cat is happy.
Still I love all animails and if i could I would have a cat and a dog cause they are both nice x

They both have their pros and cons, but I love both cats and dogs. The personalities of my two cats are great. They're very attentive and always greet me at the door when I come home. They never fart either, unlike my dog. They play for hours and race through the house like a herd of buffalo keeping me amused.

My dog - a big collie - also rips off some pretty big belches, but I've never had a dog more loving and loyal. She's a great watchdog, but my cats behave the same way. They immediately let me know if there is someone on the front porch if the dog happens to be outside.

So, bottom line, there is no loser between cats and dogs. They're both winners.

I've had both, and whereas there is no "best" choice...I would say I prefer cats myself.

Being at work all the time, I can't spend time with dogs, which thrive on attention. Cats will do whatever they want. They are so unique in their personalities that they are like having a whole separate individual living in your home! They need respect and a little attention, and they will return the favor. Dogs, as I've come to know, just tend to be in a "love on me" mode constantly. That's not bad, but for someone with no time, I would not suggest this choice of pet.

It depends on the person - what works for their life style. A dog or a cat.

I have a cat. My cat plays fetch with me almost daily - yes fetch. Sometimes he initiates the game (no kidding here!). He goes for walks on a harness (he is a strictly indoor cat) outside. I trained him. He sits, he sits up and he takes baths (weekly... just like a dog). So... it depends on the person. How much time and energy do they want to put into an animal. As you can see, a cat "can" do many things a dog can - although, I will say a cat is different from a dog and vise versa.
Good question, thanks for asking.

Dogs

they have totally different temperaments and behaviour, so it only depends for what you are looking for in a pet.... dogs are tender, they like to be there with you, and they don´t really care if you are patting them or not. they seem to enjoy just being around. also they are very useful as guardians! and there are lots of types and sizes... cats, on the other hand, they just exist... they like you when they are hungry, and so they start purring and doing all kind of adorable things... but once their stomach is full, off they go. they can spend an evening or two a week with you if its very cold outside and your new coat is warm! lol.- i think dogs are way better!

DOGS! all the way. BUT I have two cats because I'm in an apartment, a completely inappropriate place to keep a dog.

When I move, I'll get a new dog, until then, my cats are pretty cool. one of them acts like a dog anyway :)

Dogs are for people who want a full time pet. Cats are for people who don't have a lot of time.

it depends on what you are looking for in your animal companion. Dogs are fun to play with, but you have to walk them, clean up after them, bathe them, etc. Cats can be playful and affectionate, and they use a litter box (of if they are like mine, they can be trained to use the toilet.

Dogs rock! But some people may like cats more. That's fine with me!
