Did some one shoot Eddie? Or did Tarentino leave it open, and no one shot "Nice Guy Eddie"?

The scene wen't wrong and the blood pack Chris Penn was wearing went off too early. Tarantino kept it in to add an element of mystery which obviously worked as people are still wondering about it after all this time, same as the Pulp Fiction briefcase
