He is only now being discovered due to covering Nine Inch Nails songs I do believe. He was simply a great musician playing as he saw fit for the time. He definately had a dark side approach to his music

He started out as a folk singer, slowly changed to country and in his later years again moved closer to folk!

He was always a country singer. What I don't understand is why everyone is suddenly discovering his music. He's was around a long time. I can remember listening to him with my father when I was a kid in the 70's. I always loved his music.

He's definitely country, but not the "country" we think of when we hear the word. He's a darker version of country music.

in my opinion, the late great johnny cash, is beyond classification.
no matter what was cool in nashville or anywhere else he never gave up on his music.he is such a huge inspiration to me and next to Jesus he is the greatest man to walk the earth.That says alot considering i am the biggest metalhead you will ever meet.
