I don't think so anime is just something good to watch a show that can take you imagination to another place and you don't need to stress and worried. You can just sit down and relax and have fun and stuff I know my mom watches anime with my sister and I sometimes and it seem that she tends to lose all her stress just spending time watching anime and she has a real life so I highly doubt that people are afraid of life when they must need a life and a stable job to earn the money to buy their anime and mangas so no people who watch anime aren't afraid of life.

I am an anime freak and I watch anime nonstop. I'm not afraid of real life. If I would choose of getting an invite to the mall with friends or staying home and watching anime alone, I'd choose the mall.

Not int he slightest, i've watched anime for years and i have a full fledged social life and a job and i will be going to a good college and get a family. granted there are some people who set a stereo type because they have a problem seperating real life ( or rl) from video games and anime. but that isn't neccesarily the majority.

This question is stupid, and I'm questioning my own intelligence by answering. People who like anime are not afraid of real life.

He he he, steryotypical bullcrap.

I am an avid anime lover, in fact I'm writing 2 mangas right now.
Do I fear real life? Not even close...I am currently writing a novel, I have many, many friends beyond anime, I am working on a rap carreer, and that among other things. So no, we don't fear real life, just some of us.

I'm an Anime lover.

Why am I afraid of real life?

No, I'm not afraid.

Perhaps, who you heard it from or the source you read it from was wrong?

I guess you could ask this of any group of people who appreciate abstration in their art. From something as intellectual as cubism, to something geared toward entertainment like anime and other cartoons/animations/fantasy novels and movies, to something as cheap (an abomination of artistic media; film and photo) as the airbrushed pinupgirls you'd find in porn. I think the last group is probably more likely to be weak in their dealings with reality but it's not something I could say as a definite yes or no.

Anyone who uses the words "real life" on the internet is a hypocrite.

The people who are really afraid of reality are the ones who have to watch reality shows instead of living it.

My take on it is that some are, while most just need to escape the so called real world for a little while. Others just admire the genre for its own sake. It's the same thing with trekkies.

It is escapism on a relatively harmless level.
