I would recommend that you do not limit yourself to only tampons or pads, there are many options out there and it is important you know the health risks and issues related to your menstrual options – it seems like it is not important but I assure you it really is, there are factors of health, environment, cost, convenience, politics, ethics and culture to take into consideration.
I like neither tampons nor pads, tampons are horrifically bad for vaginal health and commercial tampons (e.g. Tampax) are the most harmful out of over twenty menstrual options as well as the only option to actively cost lives, pads are just not comfortable for me or convenient because I am very heavy.
I use a menstrual cup, specifically a Mooncup, they can be left in for up to 12 hours, they can be left in at night, they can be put in before your period is due, you can wear them to exercise as well as swim, they hardly ever leak, they are convenient, they lessen menstrual cramps, they are body-positive, their manufacturers are moral, nothing shows on the outside, they are totally safe, they are environmentally friendly, they are really cheap, etc.
I recommend menstrual cups to everyone because they are the only safe internal menstrual option, as well as having a load of other benefits over tampons, you get a money back guarantee with bell-shaped cups so you can try them for between 3-12 months and if you don't like them you can send them back to get your money back as well so there is nothing to loose if you find they are not for you – I know over 15000 women who use one, I have yet to meet one single person who sent their cup back.
If you do use tampons or pads then try to choose options that are safer, commercial tampons and even pads can cause infections and TSS as well as other health problems due to chemicals, bleach and synthetic materials. It is also totally normal to have to wear a pad with tampons to prevent blood getting on your panties when they leak.
For tampons try looking at using organic tampons such as Natracare that are made from cotton and are not bleached, sponge tampons like Jade & Pearl or homemade tampons, all of which are far safer than commercial tampons.
For pads try organic pads like Natracare, cloth pads like Lunapads, padded panties or homemade pads.

I really like to use "instead". It can be a little intimidating at first to use, but like tampons, once you get the hang of it, you'll love it!!...you can leave it in for up to 12 hours! I have never liked pads because it is so easy to end up with an embarrassing leak. I used tampons for years but now I use instead. If you want to try tampons, they make a Jr. or teen size that is skinny and easier to insert.
As for TSS from tampons....yes there is a very TINY risk. They make tampons different now and as long as you change them regularily and use the lowest absorbency you need, you will not have to worry about it.

TAMPONS! Pads suck because you ought to sit down down there in blood at day. i began utilising tampons at 12 years old. no longer something is inaccurate with utilising tampons on your first era, its the age aspect some human beings imagine eleven 3 hundred and sixty 5 days olds do not want to be sticking issues up their vag. Tampons do damage slightly in the initiating yet you get used to it.

Hi I didn't use tampons until I was 19 years old so kudos to you!!! I love tampons and i only use tampax. Sometimes I also use a light days mini pad with my tampon bc a little bloodalso gets on my undies.
I am on birth control and it has helped regulate my period and it is so much lighter than before I was ob Birth control.
Iam on the ring and Ithink it's great. If your interested in trying BC to lighten your period and to regulate it talk to your mom. She knows the hell we go through every month!

I like Tampons because they are comfy, and when I used to wear pads they feel like your wearing a diaper or something and I always thought people could see it (the poofyness I mean), I use Playtex Soft Comfort Tampons and I seem to like those the best.

i used pads when i first got my period. after about 4 years i couldnt stand the feeling like i was wearing a diaper or something so i switched to tampons. tampax pearl is good and a little more comfortable to insert.

When i was your age i still used pads. But now i prefer tampons like tampax as their are no leaks but you must change them regularly to avoid toxic shock syndrome and ideally wear pads overnight but you can wear tampons for up to 8 hours

Try "instead" its like a little cup over your cervix and lasts for 12 hours. Your don't have to replace it as much and on the light days you don't have to worry about a really dry tampon or a bulky pad when you don't need all of that.

i'm 32 and just started using tampons. I also would get spotting on my undies sometimes, so you need to use a pantyliner. Would recommend tampons, but I still where pads at night.

When I was younger all I used was pads. The idea of putting things up there did not appeal to me at all... I used always with wings... But now that I am in my mid 20s I used Tampax pearl... I love them and they are comfortable and reliable

Tampons...I have never like pads. They make me feel gross. I used Tampax juniors when I was younger, but now I use Tampax pearl. if your not sure then maybe you should stick with pads. with tampons you could get toxic shock syndrome. you need to know what your getting into when you use tampons. toxic shock syndrome could make you really sick or could even lead to death.
