Hey all, I am male, 18 years old and I study acting here in Los Angeles since I was 15. It's my dream to become an actor (screen). I am quite good looking, my height is 5'4" 1/2 (without any shoes and about 5'7 at the very most WITH shoes...), would you say I am short? Do I still have the potentiality to grow taller after 18, even few more inches? Do you think my height will influence the opportunities of being able to get acting jobs here in Hollywood? Serious roles, not a Gary Coleman or a Danny DaVito (with no offense to them...lol)

I've studied many years to come to this point and now at the thought that height could influence my future depresses me greatly. What do you people think? Thank you for taking time to read!

The vast majority of very talented actors never make it in Hollywood. The fact is, there is far more talent available than Hollywood can use, if they want to keep the star system intact. You are more likely to have success somewhere like NY, but even there, it's a very crowded field.

So yes, your height and looks will dictate the parts you get. Although there have been exceptions, where Hollywood has gone to great lengths to make an actor's career despite his height, 5' 4" is likely to work against you. You are much more likely to get character parts than leads.

At 18, you are pretty much done growing; an no drugs will help at this point. I would concentrate on being the best you can be, develop specific skills in addition to your acting capability, and concentrate on landing really good character roles to build up a good resume.

you may possibly grow another inch or two at your age....play basketball, even if you hate the sport...it will make your bones grow by leaps and bounds. but if you don't grow anymore, don't worry about it....focus on your acting skills and depending on your versatility, you'll be called to various casting calls. remember....tom cruise is 5'8. just don't go jumping off oprah's sofa and looking like an idiot when you do get famous.
