Yup at Canal Street in NYC. I'm not that good but I've done it twice and got reasonable deals. The first was for a head scarf, originally 3/$10 which I got down to $3. Ok back then I was such an amateur so I know I made a bad deal. But last year I went again and saw this necklace I loved for $8. I got it down to $5.75 because I haggled to the last nickel!! The trick is that you have to be aggresive. On your first time you might think "Oh these business people are so stupid so I can probably whip their butts at this" but it turns out (gasp) that they're sly, intelligent creatures who will do anything to dupe you.

Absolutely! And, I'll even haggle in regular stores. Just approach a manager or someone who has authorization to change prices and see if they're willing. I bought a beautiful picture just the other day in a chain store and got extra off of it because of a small scratch on the frame. Awhile back, I saw some pictures there were similar to some on sale but were not and when I offered to buy several if they gave them to me on sale, they let me. It never hurts to ask. Just remember to be reasonable! Don't expect 90% off of something just because you haggled! Good Luck!

You better believe it!
One time, this crazy lady tried to charge me $25 for a jacket made in the 80's at her garage sale. There were oil stains all over it too (which I could get out), I went down to $5. She didn't budge so I threw the jacket on the floor and said good luck selling the jacket.

That was the first time I ever lost in a haggle match. Guess I was mad I lost...lol!

I am good at getting clothing for les than a buck a piece at yard sales! :P

absolutely. Depending on the merchant, sometimes all you have to do is ask. I spent may years traveling the world, and in many countries, it is the way business gets done. it's good business, usually, both the buyer and the seller can walk away feeling that they have made a good deal.

I recently bought a $30K Harley for $24K out the door including Tax, Tag and Title.

oh, yeah with a car salesman, its was great fun and frustrated the heck out of him cause he needed the sale more than i needed the car...i went to walk out twice...i wasn't mean about it just firm and they hated me by the time i left with a very low interest rate, a rebate and below the dealers cost (they screwed up on that one !) the guy said it was the first time it had ever happened....score one for the customer for once i say !

I have. Just today. I borrowed these books from library and forgot to bring them back. The library wanted to fine me but I argued that no-one should pay a fine for books as stupid as these were.

They said I had a point but I had to pay anyway.
