On the day of the switch over you should have provided a meter reading so that your old company would bill you up to that meter reading, (hence you are now receiving your final bill which you may owe money on).

Your new company will start to be bill from the same meter reading and you should receive your 1st bill from them in approx 3months time. If you are struggling to pay the final bill, the Utility company is obligied to make an arrangement for you to pay it - normally allowing you to pay the bill off over 3 to 6 months

Oh yes, mine was gas suppliers. Npower and British Gas, what a pair. No wonder they charge such extortionate prices, to cover the cost of all the statements/cheques/legal letters they sent me in error.

Good job neither of them ever sent a letter of apology or that would be a further cost lol

Yeah it is not a simple process. I switched a couple of months ago and got letters through saing the switch was complete, then got another couple of letters saying there was a delay. I still don't know who I am meant to be paying!

you switch with a lot more people and what happens? when they have you locked in, they close the gates and up the price, stop with whoever your with at present. they all have to charge the same in the end only they pretty it up so it looks cheaper than the other crowd, it seems all utility prices are out of control, and they have carte-blanche

this happens often . place a few calls , and see if you can get them to adjust the bill . you might even have to go down there in person . be persistent , they'll get it figured out .............

cheers !
