it like usb but much faster for transfering and stuff ( like ipods while sync music in 10 seconds each album with firewire but 10 min with usb and it will charg faster ! )

FireWire is a hardware standard for connecting peripheral devices. It is faster than USB 2.0 and is the standard for Video cameras and Macs. Apple helped develop it because it needed small port sizes and faster speeds than the old USB 1.0

Look at it as a USB port just is must faster and it's used to convert movies from camcorder to computer for example that are many other applicactions
