If this has been going on for awhile, you probably need to get your neck evaluated for any pathology. Assuming everything is OK, evaluate what you might be doing that is causing you to hold your head at an unnatural angle from your body. A common culprit is the computer. You should be holding your head erect and the center of the computer screen should be slightly below a horizontal line from your eyes. Try making some changes in your work station.
As for treatment, one technique is to firmly grasp the "meaty" part of the back of your neck with your hand (or preferably have someone do this for you). This is NOT a pinch, but a firm grip to the neck done with the palm of the hand and the flat surface of the fingers. Hold this position for about a minute, then slowly release. Then grasp the "meaty" muscle on each side of the neck (called the trapezius). Again hold for about a minute. This is an acupressure treatment for neck (and also shoulder) spasms. It can be very effective.

How long have you had this? you most likely have caused trauma to your neck, shoulders, etc. I would make an appointment with your family doctor for a referral to a neurologist. You might have caused this by a fall, an accident or stress. Your doctor may prescribe a muscle relaxer. If this doesn't take care of your spasms. Don't delay and get to a neurologist! You may have cervical dystonia. Good luck! My neurologist give me botox injections in my neck, shoulders, and my head.

Umm, did you have any major trauma? Neck injuries? Do you have ADD/ADHD or something like that?
I take a multivitamin supplement called Empowerplus http://www.truehope.com . I was in a major car accident and have ADHD, and it cures my ilness and my spasms. I had neck muscle spasms and rapid eyelid twitching. When I stop taking it, they all come back.
My best guess is mineral difficiency, but if you don't think it's a nerve/mental thing, you should go see a chriopractor. If he doesn't fix you, you'll feel a lot better, anyways.
Good luck.

Have you seen a doctor yet for this?It is very possible that you have a pinched nerve. But also depending on how long you've been having these spasms,it may just be stress, and I have found that muscle relaxants, prescribed by you doctor, can greatly relieve stress and pressure from your muscles and nerves, therefore stopping the spasms.Hope this helps.Good luck!

my wife also suffers from neck tremors. when she went to see a neurologist it turned out to be dystonia (shakes in the neck in this case). she also suffered from tortocolis (her head would turn). she is awaiting botox injections which should alleviate the shakes.
as for it being embarrassing, she felt the same way- she is a teacher and so she is constantly on display. she had to learn that she has a medical issue which needs treatment. that helped her get over some of the issues, but she still is not 100% comfortable in front of people and tries to keep her head still, which makes it worse.
hope this helps. dysontia can manifest itself in many forms, neck tremors are only one form.
talk to a neurologist for advice and best of luck.
i know my wife notices her neck more than anybody else does and i am sure it is the same with you.

Chiropractic may help. Calcium-Magnesium-zinc pills 3 times a day sometimes will help relieve muscle spasms.
