I've already written about gas prices, taxes, the patriot act, and immigration. I don't want to write about the war between Isreal and Hezbollah for several reasons.

You may be on to something, there is an overkill with those topics you mentioned.
Change course and write about how items in your everyday life effect you life. Your car, other people. Peoples attitudes, things you encounter in you life, with no set ideas in mind, like a free for all smorgasbord of stuff.

My favorite blogs are the ones that rant about insignificant things. If I were going to write a blog, I would base it on quality of life laws that I believe should be imposed. Things like banning golf umbrellas from anyplace more than 100 yards from a golf course, making it illegal for any man not on an officially sanctioned swim team from wearing a speedo, and the fine be $100 for every inch over a size 32 waist, banning the sale of tube tops over a size 10 for women, and dictating anyone under 5"6" may not carry an umbrella on a city sidewalk. (tired of getting my eyes poked by their tips). The list is endless.

Too many people, in my opinion, write about politics, world events, etc. Most of these blogs feature hysterical rants, accusations, and wild conspiracy theories. Also, many are hopelessly linked to other blogs and newspaper articles.
Try blogging about something you like to do, such as writing, art, collecting, etc. Perhaps you start a fact finding blog where you share your exploits as you explore the creative side of yourself. Example: display your first attempts at art (could be funny), your photos, short stories, and more. You may find something you're good at and you will have a new passion and blog topic for life. I'm no expert, I don't have a blog, but I am passionate about my particular art form. Maybe I should start a blog? I hope this helps. Good luck.

You could write about how McCain is distancing himself from George Bush. You could write about how Latinos will now vote against Repubs now instead of for them. You could write about how this slim margin, which put Bush in the lead twice, is now actively against the Repub party and how this will change the face of politics in this nation.
