Pulling it off that many years apart is beautiful. The first series and TNG are my favorites. I hated Voyager. DSN was interesting only because Andy Robinson showed up sometimes. He actually asked someone once, "Do we understand each other?" I loved it. I never watched Enterprise. (I didn't like Quantum Leap.)
For movies, First Contact. Deanna gets drunk, the Vulcans arrive, and Data almost gives in. He thought about it for 0.00000000007 seconds, and for an android, that's an eternity.
The Wrath of Khan is the best with the original cast. I don't know about anyone else, but I recognized Khan immediately. OMG, it's KHAN!

Best series is Star Trek: The Next Generation
Best film is Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan
(although Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country comes a very close second)

I will always love the Original series, but TNG was the best made. Of the movies, give me Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home (where they come back in time to save the whales) everytime; it's a complete hoot; Of the movies, usually the even-numbered ones are best (Wrath of Kahn, Voyage Home, Undiscovered Country, etc.)

I there is a tie b/w the original and the Next generation. As for Movies, the all time best is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan w/ First Contact coming in Second.
I don't think that they gave Enterprise enough time, it was just getting good when they canceled it.

Enterprise. I liked it the best and I don't care what anyone else may say. Wrath of Khan was the best ST movie. Grew up with TOS and loved every second. TNG is ok, but it has become dated more quickly than I thought, especially the "let's all sit down and talk about how to resolve our problem" episodes. Dianna Troi was better when she was made into a more dynamic character. DS9 was a very dark series which was OK but it could get bogged down plot wise and dont talk to me about Voyager. The tone of the actress that plays Janeway, her voice, drives me up the wall. Rant over.
PS. Isn't George Takei of Japanese descent not Chinese?

I liked The Original Series, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise but couldn't for the life of me get into DS9.
The films with Original Crew are the best in my opinion.

Original Series - I'm watching Let That Be Your Last Battlefield as we speak!
It's the best by virtue of the fact that many problems are overcome by some well-timed slapping from Kirk, and everyone sweats buckets all the time.
Seriously though, the first season is fantastic tv - Balance of Terror has never been bettered in terms of tv sci-fi quality (although the new Galactica's episode "33" came close).

The Original was best, though TNG had some interesting new philosophical entanglements. Best Movie One though two had more action. BTW, they just roasted Shatner on Comedy Central and he had to comment on how inovative the show was to let a Chinese guy pilot the ship. That is what they meant by boldly exploring. It was a joke and George Takai took it in turn as he poked fun at Shatner's hair piece. You should watch it if you haven't already.
