Sounds like you're after that 'Trainspotting' cool. If I am right, you might want to check out 'Headstate' by Irvine Welsh. "Originally conceived as a 'pre-club night' rather than a long-running play, this theatre piece, developed in concert with the Boilerhouse Theatre Company, is both a snapshot of and a hard-edged investigation into uncomfortable contemporary truths. Mickey sells love; Tina has given it away; John denies it; and Martin Sykes, the butcher, will always use it for a scam. Headstate is a shocking and humorous look at modern Britain: where we are now and how we got here." (www.fantasticfiction.co.uk)
The Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh is also a good recommendation, as they support and publish lots of plays by young writers. I can guarantee they can help you find the sort of play you're looking for - and then some.

I haven't seen any plays recently, but I'd definitely recommend a fairly new musical called Avenue Q. It's very satirical on all the aspects of modern day society and a great comedy. It's performed by a mixture of human actors and Sesame Street/Muppet style puppets.
Go see it!

Rent is definitely sweet ***, and sorta fits. I didn't know Trainspotting was turned into a play. It's one of my absolute favorite movies! So I would definitely check that one out! It fits all three descriptions you're looking for. Well, at least the movie does.

The Acid House by Irvine Welsh.
And I'm racking my brain for this playwright, Sarah Someone, who's SERIOUSLY warped. One play is something about a dead baby and an eyeball eating gay rapist.

Trainspotting. I saw it performed in Phoenix and it was very uncomfortable to watch. Also Clockwork Orange.

It's Sarah Kane, her plays are really weird. "Blasted", "Phaedras Love", "Crave", "Skin".She committed suicide a few years ago when she was, I think, 28.
Another one is "Shopping and *******" by Mark Ravenhill.
