MYTH 2: US Conservatives tend to be patriotic, ethical Americans; liberals tend to hate America and are immoral.
MYTH 3. The US has a liberal media.
MYTH 4. The US doesn’t need improvement compared to other countries; it is the greatest country in the world.
MYTH 5: The US government loves to help other countries
*Only 18% of Americans own passports and bother to travel outside of the US.
* 85% of US soldiers in Iraq believe that they are there to get revenge for 9/11.
* New international student enrollment in US grad schools has decreased by 6%, because of xenophobic post-9/11 US visa restrictions, jacked-up tuition fees and better educational opportunities in the EU and Asia. So no, not everyone wants to come here anymore, because it's become a land of incredibly limited opportunity, and we've lowered our educational standards.

It was interesting to read some of the responses that you have received. I think that some people were offended because they have been raised to believe many of these things. In recent years, our history has been twisted and some parts of it actually removed by our government. (ex: Unclassified documents being reclassified, you can look up the articles written about it.) My favorite example is the French, after 9/11. Politicians and others ranted we saved them in WWII, and how did they thank us, by not supporting us. Let's ban everything French. Well, we did save them, however, the U.S. had a policy of isolationism during WWII. We entered the war after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Until then, it was their problem. But, let's look at your myths.
MYTH 1: The US was founded on Christian principles - True, however our founding fathers believed in most of the "Christian" principles. But the foundation of our government you have to look at the Magna Carta, the new theories of and on Democracy and Capitalism at the time.
MYTH 2: US Conservatives tend to be patriotic, ethical Americans; liberals tend to hate America and are immoral. -True, however, "Conservatives" and "Liberals" have changed over time. The Conservatives were against the Women's Suffrage Movement, because women didn't need the right to vote, also, we were fighting a war at the time, and it was wrong to protest. However, now, I think that most Conservatives (especially women) are OK with the whole voting thing. We went through the same thing with the Civil Rights movement. I think that "Conservatives" and "Liberals" love their country. One group likes the status quo, the other group sees what it could be.
MYTH 3. The US has a liberal media. - True. I have no example. However, I do watch the BBC, and other media to determine what is really going on, or at least get a different perspective.
MYTH 4. The US doesn’t need improvement compared to other countries; it is the greatest country in the world. - True, but I love my country with all my heart. I say that as an African American female. I know my country is far from being the best. But I will do what I can to improve it.
MYTH 5: The US government loves to help other countries - True. Ok, let's just say it. The US government likes money and power, like every other government in the world. We have helped some countries, but they have paid a dear price, and we have as well. When Gore Vidal was on Real Time with Bill Maher a few years ago, he mentioned something about the U.S. that use to be taught in history class. We (the U.S.) are not good at regime change. The U.S. has always failed at it. History is repeating itself once more.

they are myths -- each has some basis in reality, some "expansion" beyond that kernel of truth.
