I tried taking 5HTP for weight loss with other weight loss products but all it did was put me in a worse mood and probably added to some depression. I started taking an All in one liquid nutritional supplement called VIBE in place of my daily multi-vitamin. I wasn't looking for weight loss or better mood, but i found that after taking it for a few days and then a couple weeks later i noticed my mood was better and i was loosing some of the last weight that i was trying to loose, and my appetite was less. If you want to check it out for yourself, it's a really good way to get all over better nutrtition even if you do find something else for the weight loss.

Well, 5-htp Is reported to help with weight loss. But you have to take about 100 mgs three times a day and that would put me into a coma. Because it is also a VERY effective sleep aid..

It is a metabolized into the form of SRI by the body..it must be effective because you should never take it or St. John's Wort if you are taking a prescription SRI

I tried taking it for depression, and I didn't lose any weight or feel any happier... It did however give me a lot of nightmares.
