ignore most of the previous posts. if your laptop were overheating, it wouldn't be overheating the moment you turned it on. for some laptops this is completely normal even at a cool room temperature. new laptops are trying to really push the envelope for performance, so they don't mind including constant fans to cool them. mine has worked fine for almost two years and runs constantly like yours. just replace the fans when they die, and maybe use a cooling pad.

You need your laptop on a solid surface where air can be circulated thru the fan. If it is running too much, or if you feel the bottom of your machine and it feels warn or hot to the touch, it isn't getting enough air flow to keep itself cool. This can come from sitting it on a couch or bed or pillow, etc. Also, if you are talking about it does it all the time, and not just while you are using it, the fan will still run if need be even in standby modes. Power the machine off when not in use. Hope that helps!

The fan is very important. Your laptop is built differently than a desktop, and as such, it heats up more frequently. If the fan were not going, it would overheat quickly.
If you are using it on your lap, it might help to put it on a board or book, so that there is some space between the lap top and your lap, which will help it cool off easier. The fan will run less if it's not having to work as hard to keep it cool.

It's hot. Keep it in the freezer.... Could be the thermistor thingy isn't working right and cutting it in and out. But better to be going all the time than not at all.
A computer technician would squirt a coolant on the microprocessor to cool it and see if that worked. maybe, you should take it to a computer technician - try to find one who doesn't hate laptops!

You're computer is probably really dirty on the inside. Get a can of compressed air, and try blowing out all the dust around the fan.

The heat sink cream between the CPU and the heat sink has dried up and the heat is not being transferred to the heatsink for cooling.
The thermister circuit that triggeers the fan is on the CPU.

Because it's either very hot or it's trying to stop itself from getting hot.
