It's pretty shaky at this point for the Red Sox. Think about it. If the White Sox overtake the Tigers in the Central, the Tigers are the wild card, and that would be an even bigger hill to climb than the one they already are. I think the Red Sox are in serious danger of missing the playoffs, but then again that's exactly what we said about the Yankees a month ago.

It is not so much of them being behind the Yankees to make the playoffs. I guess you are forgetting that they are behind both the Twins and White Sox for the wild card. They do not need to catch the Yankees. They need to catch the other 2 teams. I am always wondering why Yankee and Red Sox fans forget the rest of the AL.

Playoffs yes, but the Twins might pass them up for the wild card, but the White Sox have no shot at the division, and Guillen needs to stop being an idiot, it's really getting old.

The Fat lady has sung in the AL East. I don't like the Yankees but barring a rash of injuries to the Yankees I don't see the Sox catching up now.

I think Curt Shilling said it best after the Red Sox sweep, (slightly paraphrased) "I don't think it was so much that a weakness was exposed... we were out-pitched, out-hit, out-hustled, out-everything."

Whether you revel in the Yankees' well-deserved victories or the reality of the Red Sox' poor play, one thing is made apparent: Boston has almost no shot at making the playoffs in 2006.

No, as much as I hate the Yankees, they'll win the division by more than 10 games.

The Red Sox are a pathetic excuse for a baseball team.

I think my great grandmother has more life than the Boston Dead Sox right now.

And she's been 6 feet under for about 35 years.

no there are better teams than them in the wild card race (like the twins) and the sox can't catch the yanks.

Yes but they better stop the slide now. They are 4 gms behind CWS for WC and 3.5 games behind MIN.

Sadly, despite all the hype, they still aren't that great a team. Luckily most of their fans believe the hype and will buy expensive tickets to see them go down the toilet again this year.
