While I don't think the gap in ages is that bad, I think a 16 year old getting married these days is a little scary. 16 year olds today barely know how to dress themselves much less be responsible enough to devote their lives to another person. I think if the 2 involved really loved each other they could date for a few years before getting married. Now 24 years ago, I don't think this would have been that big of a deal, kids were more mature.

Umm, well, I think that 16 is a bit too young for someone 26. They havent matured in certain areas of their life. I was mature at 16, but that was compared to the average 16 year old. I couldnt imagine myself being married and living up to the responsibility of a wife or mother. I have friends who had children at yougn ages, so I know it is possible to be an adult sooner that you have to.

First the 26yr old should be mature enough to understand the 16 yo and for the 16 yo be well adjusted enough from not being out of teen years to being married. At first it would be something the people will judge because of the age gap, but if it something worth fighting for, then they just have to prove them wrong.

24 years ago was a totally different time with the laws and social norms. If you were the same ages today it would be totally different. If you are older you may have been called everything in the book from a child molester to just a cradle robber....but then it wasn't a big deal and congrats on 24 years!!

well i think u were lucky that it worked out bcos most 16 year olds dont know themselves and people change! Its illegal here for a 16 yo to marry and even if she was 18 and u were 28 i would say to wait so she can grow into the person she will be.

Even twenty four years ago, I would think that would not be the norm, but if all parties were agreeable, and your maturity levels were closely matched, I see no problem with it. I do think, that, TODAY, most people are too self absorbed to make a commitment like that at age sixteen, or age twenty six.

Well, most will react badly but if you look into history books, most marrages where older guys younger girls back years ago. If it works for you and is legal, Good luck..
Also, seems to me marrages lasted longer (for life) then too.. Hmm maybe there is something there...
