Yep, about ten years ago, had a cobra snake, it was around the verandah area...it curled up below a seat and my dog was barking at it...think it came from a swampy area near my house.
I remember my dad, uncle and grandfather took a stick, broom, and spade, to beat the life out of it...obviously didn't know what to do with it, since there were no zoos or wildlife sanctuaries around, and keeping it was not an option as catching it was way out of mind....i feel sorry for it now...but then again, it would have harmed others if it was let off.

We always have garter snakes outside near a rock wall but the only one that we ever had inside the house was one we captured as a pet. We made a great glass box with a screen lid and a little pool. Every weekend the kids and I went with nets and caught tadpoles for its meals since it would only eat live food. The kids (and their friends) learned a lot about biology by watching that pet. They never asked for a dog or cat because their urge was satisfied by that creature.

We haven't had any snakes in the house, but we had a rat snake on the back porch. We've had skinks in the house. We have box turtles in the backyard. Our dog likes to catch opossums - but those aren't reptiles.

Not on purpose. But there have been several snakes that have come into our house over the years. Garter snakes, black snakes, corn snakes, and several copperheads. I've killed the copperheads and put the rest back outside. We live way out in the country and we are surrounded by mountains.

Thank God- I've NEVER had a snake in my home since I've been married.

When I was really young and lived with my grams, they used to have a really old farm type house, and they had snakes often to my memory. But THANK GOD my mother killed every one of them, and chased them down to kill them when the tried to get away!

If a snake was to get into my house, the kids and I would leave because Pastor would shoot until he killed it...rofl.

Blessings To You & Yours

One of mine got loose one time in the house for awhile, but he was a friendly snake, so no worries.
