I want to find something like tivo that still has the lifetime subscription (and might be cheaper), but still has all the same easy to use functions.

Replay is the other independent DVR service. I am not sure how it works now.

Otherwise, the cable and satellite companies provide their own DVR services. But these are setup as monthly services/fees.

DVR is the only thing I have ever heard of besides Tivo. Not sure if there are other options. DVR usually has to come from the cable company directly. It is only about $5 or so more each month to have DVR added to your cable bill. That is what it was for me when I had Time Warner Cable. Hope that helps.

just get a tv to pc usb adapter, and you can record all the tv you want with the included software and never have to pay for it. not the same exact functions, but free once you get it.
