You would have to use a domain email or your ISP's email and in the settings click or set it to ask for "read receipts" I don't think any of the free emails like Yahoo or Hotmail offer this feature.

Although even if you ask for this the person on the other end may have this feature turned off so you will still not be notified if someone has actually received and/or opened your email.

I myself have turned these off because of spammers being able to get a message back if I opened their emails.

The other answers have said ask for a receipt using Outlook Express. You can now access your email on yahoo or googlemail with Outlook Express. but the ports are different on Gmail and the set up is a little different on yahoo to my ISP too. If you want info on how to set up Outlook express for Yahoo - ask another question. I have that answer in a text file - I've answered it that many times!

Give me top answer I go up a level soon and I want to see what I get of Yahoo. Could be Windows wallpaper..... Free webspace!!!! Maybe not.... pigs don't fly... I know about geocities - I can't upload to that! I want Yahoo web builder and space to go with it.... a gig will do... same as the email...

If you use outlook you can request a read receipt but it is up to the receipient to allow that read receipt to be sent so even requesting one is not fool proof. This is why email is still a grey area as you cannot guarantee they reach their destination or get read.

Its not posible you simply know that it has been delivered (otherwise you would get a an error email back) but you cant know if the person has read it or not.

not all systems will let you do it - if its outlook, you have the option to "request receipt" once the e-mail has been received - for free e-mail, not always.

what mail system are you looking at?

Then go here and tell Yahoo mail. You won't get it if you don't ask for it.
