BRICKS AND SAND AND THEN BRUSH DRY SAND AND CEMENT OVER THE TOP UNTIL CRACKS IN BETWEEN ARE FILLED ...YOU HAVE TO DIG OUT THE SHAPE TO PROPER DEPTH FIRST... I DID 8 INCHES....ASK WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE MIXTURES...OF SAND PLUS THE DEPTH OF THE BRICKS TO BRING IT EVEN WITH TOP...YOU CAN ADD TO THE SIZE LATER IF YOU WANT TO...YOU HAVE TO GET A TAMPER AND USE A LEVEL..... AND SOLIDIFY THE SAND FOUNDATION AS YOU GO SO THAT YOU WONT GET UNEVEN SETTLING. AFTER HEAVY RAINS....ITS EASY AND FUN

You can buy a form/mold that looks like pavers and you fill it with concrete--which can be colored--to make a walkway or patio. Once it starts to set, you remove it and do it again to get the size you want. I beleive you can purchase them at Lowes, etc.

See: http://www.donnan.com/patios.htm
Visit your local Home Depot or Lowes and see if they offer DIY sessions. Your cost will primarily depend on size and what you want to use as pavers. It does take some manual labor.

You can also build a portable deck out of wood. I have plans in one of my 2x4 projects books. You basically build manageable size platforms(say 2ftx2ft) and configure them any way you want.
