So, I have several problems, and I need your help:
My internet connection is DSL, and its speed is 100 Mbps (Pretty fast), but when I want to download anything (Especially big files), it takes a long time compared to the file's size (And the download speed rate shows numbers ranging from 4-12 Kb/sec). I did scan for posible threats (Spyware, viruses, etc.) but nothing!
--I'm using these programs:
-Yahoo! AntiSpy
-Windows Defender (Beta 2)
-Symantec Antivirus
-Spyware Doctor
And even the internet in general became slow. So..What's the problem??

P.S: The computer restarted suddenly by itself just minutes ago, and I let it do the 'checking system' thing

Thanks in advance :)

Most probably your Norton causing the problem.
Check your settings on that for a start as it is most probably doing a running check on your downloads.

I got rid of norton as a real pain.
One way to check that would be to find a safe file to download and turn off you Norton just to see if it is the cause.
Should be able to turn off by left clicking on the Norton symbol.

Another option would be to ring your ISP as they are usually pretty good unless your ISP works through a Indian call station.

You anti spy progs list shouldn't effect the speed but if you have them running could slow things down. Maybe have a look at the setup on them as well but doubt that would be the problem.

The last thing you mentioned was called the checkdisc programme that usually runs if you turn off your computer without doing a proper shutdown - no problems there.

When is the last time you Defragmented you computer? That is important as a badly fragmented computer will slow down dramatically.

As you can see there are many reasons. Just listed a few above.
Your TIF temp internet files could be clogging you up as well.
Goto tools above. click on internet options
Delete TIF files (will not cause any problems) and clear your history while you are there

Best of luck...

Try disconnecting the power supply to your dsl modem, waiting about 1 minute, and then reconnecting. I know this works for me sometimes with my cable connection and was suggested by the cable support staff when I was having download problems.

DSL works better the closer you are to a local switching station. You might try running some speed tests on your connection here:

Tech support for your DSL provider might be able to offer some suggestions for your specific issues.

You'll probably find that your network card is 100mbps, but not your internet connection.
