Hopefully you have a Virus program. What many people forget to do is to update the DAT files of the Virus program so that it will find all the new viruses that come out each week. Update your Virus program and run a full system scan. (Also consider using a second virus program as a backup. Someitmes what one misses another will find.) If you don't have a Virus Scan program, GET one. (And regularly update it and regularly run scans with it.)
Also get a few Anti Spyware programs. The three which work best in concert are:
Adaware SE Personal
Spybot Search and Destroy
Microsoft Defender.
You can get most of these from www.download.com or search for them on Google. Like Virus Programs, they must be regularly updated and scans must be run regularly. The more you surf (or are on the internet) the more often you should scan your system for both Adware/Spyware and Viruses.
Lastly, you may want to get a program called HiJackTHis. It locates odd Browser Helper Objects and Browser Hijackers. It is a very tech savvy type of program, but with a little study, anyone can use it. There aree many tech forums on thenet where you can post your HijackThis LOG and techs will tell you how to interpret and use it.

There are actually several different things that could be causing your problem. You could have contracted a virus, adware or spyware. Another possibility is have you defragged your hard drive??? A fragmented hard drive could easily create the problems you have listed.

probably spyware and other adware programs running in the background of your computer. take it to the geek squad. I only know what I've overheard from my guy fixing computers, he says spyware and adware and little files that are attached to other programs or things you download-that you cant really see unless you search for them, but they run constantly and mess with your computer. also try not to have too many things on your bottom bar.

Check to see if the user behind the keyboard knows what they are doing. Most of my computer problems are cause but the person using it.
