According to a recent news report, Debra Lafave, the old teacher who had an affair with her 14-15 year old student, is going to be given an interview with Matt Lauer. Despite her being on House Arrest, where contact such as this is strictly forbidden, a judge granted Lauer the interview.
In our society, there would be no room for a Male Adult, a teacher no less, to give his side of the story and receive any kind of sympathy whatsoever if he had committed actions even slightly cocmparable to this. Sent to Prison with the Media all over him calling him more names than I could think of, he would never be given a chance to share his side of the story, and if he could, it would be seen as bullocks.
However, here we are, watching as this Woman gets preferential treatment for actions which would be heralded as worthy of death if committed by a Man. She is on House Arrest, with no major Prison term coming up, and multiple opportunities to explain herself, actually receiving symapthy!
