Yes every state if you are getting married you need proof of divorce

Yes you need you show proof, i live in NY and have looked into getting remarried, and you definetly do need proof of divorce for you can only be married to one person at a time,

You would have to contact the justice center in New York to see if you need to show proof of divorce. They should be able to tell you than when you apply for your marriage license.

If previously married, you must show certified documents on how your previous marriage ended.

no you dont. i dont think so anyway- i was remarried in connecticut and no one checked. there is no way they would know if someone was previously married or not. they assume everyone is honest!
