Describe a scenario where you feel/felt your boss at work was completely irrational or handled a situation inappropriately. How did this affect your work performance/ willingness to be there?
*My boss, often, sweeps problems or issues under the rug, rather than handles it then and there...causing problems to continue as always, which results in more frequent walk-outs or angry employees.. very unprofessional.

i understand your dilemma. i used to work at a restaurant where managers had a similar non-professional approach to dealing with problems.
take for example the way i was FIRED: i came to work in a great mood. one of my managers was having a bad day. he told me to come into his office, closed the door and FLIPPED out on me. he tried to get physical (non-professional fighter). i immediately left the office and called his boss, who i thought of as a friend. a week later i was FIRED because the irrational / unprofessional / violent / LIAR of a "manager" claimed that I had attacked him.
when i applied for unemployment his story became more and more outlandish. needless to say, the lies didn't gibe with the witnesses statements. so, i got my desperately needed unemployment checks (all two of them). i can only assume that it was easier to fire me and "make the problem go away" than it would've been to explain to their bosses why a violent manager (who has had several documented outburts of uncontrollable rage/anger) was allowed to go on working for as long as he did.
life's a lot better for me now. i think that the rage/nut still works at that place. i've since moved on to better things.
i am sure that one day you will too.

I had an internship and my boss was always having me type transmittals and faxes for her. She would say "write so-and-so this and say blah-blah-blah." So I would, and when I gave it to her to sign, she's mark the whole thing up and say "no, change this and this and this." I'd type it again, and again she'd mark it all up again. I'd have to change it 3 or 4 times. It was so frustrating! After a couple months, she said to me "you should know how I word things by now." But, I couldn't figure it out. When my internship was up, we remained friends and she has a lot of contact in the business. She gave me some leads on potential employers and was a great reference. I guess it was good that I just put up with it.

My boss favored two of his "precious" assistants. He interacts with them more than anybody in the school I work for. They get higher pay, and they get paid FIRST. I, on the other hand, do a much difficult job compared to those two assistants' work put together. I get paid LAST, and he'd make up excuses about how he doesn't have the money to pay me and even apologizes hypocritically about it. He was so full of lies and deceit. Totally pissed me off, so instead of working full time, I switched to part time. Made matters worse. In the end, damn boss wouldn't pay me anymore. So I just left the job. The work was crappy anyway.
He didn't even bother discussing with me my part time pay. He was always putting me off and wouldn't answer any of my phone calls or emails. Claims he's always busy or in a meeting. However, if the calls were from his two precious assistants, he'd answer them regardless of what time it is or where he is or what he's doing.

My first real job was at a family-run company where there was no shortage of crazy running through those people's genes! They tried to fire me when an envelope that was mailed to a client got lost in the mail. The next day after my suspension, the envelope arrived and they felt stupid. When I returned, I only worked there a few more months before I up and quit with a two-weeks notice right before we were about to start a big project. Teaches them to try to treat their people better.
