I can remember bits and pieces of my first Christmas, simply because the santa that came to the house scared me! I have no other memories until later in my teen years....that's odd isn't it?
So, although you may be abnormal (only kidding!), having those memories isn't...cherish them.

I remember a few things from when I was 2. But, you have to take into consideration the fact that you have probably rehashed this amazing memory with family members so many times in the past years that it has solidified as fact, regardless of unintentional embelishment imposed by yourself or others who think they remember the event, too.

I must have been 3, I think. (I'm 31 now.)
I remember sitting on the steps to our basement and there was a crack in the wall. I had a set of those colored plastic keys on a big plastic key ring. I would stick keys in the crack and pretend I was driving a car.

I have other memories around the same time, but I can't put them in any type of chronological order.

I have a memory of about that far back. I remember laying on my stomach and running my hands through my parents shag carpet. I don't have any more until I was a few years older.

My earliest memory is when I turned 3. It's funny that it's such a clear memory. I know I was 3 because I remember singing happy birthday to myself. No one at my school knew it was my birthday.. or at least no one wished me happy birthday. I thought it was the saddest day of my life because for lunch, I remember, having a grilled cheese sandwich and fruit cocktail w/ cottage cheese. I cried because I had to eat the fruit cocktail with (what looked, smelled, and tasted like) baby vomit (the cottage cheese). I got spanked on my legs because I'd stuck a paper clip into an electrical outlet and sparks flew. Again, I cried. To top it off.. during play time, I stuck with the raggety big wheel- you know, the one where the pedal no longer turns the wheel like it's supposed. That was a sad, sad day for me.

I can remember a large mangle in the yard of my great aunt when I was three. Even nearly sixty years later the memory is still very sharp.
