Antivirus 2006 starts by automatically disinfecting your system prior to installation, starting you off with a clean, virus-free computer. The software automatically removes viruses, Trojan horses, and worms. It detects and removes dangerous spyware, keystroke loggers, and other unwanted monitoring software (for Windows XP or Windows 2000 only). Antivirus 2006 checks incoming and outgoing email attachments for viruses, and automatically scans incoming instant message attachments for threats.

The protection doesn't end there. It prevents spyware programs from hijacking your home page and redirecting you to their download sites (for Windows XP or Windows 2000 only). In addition, Antivirus 2006 checks compressed file archives for viruses, keeps dangerous Internet worms out (blocking them before they infect your system), and automatically downloads updates to protect against new threats. Once it downloads updates it automatically scans for viruses, based on the new information given. It even uses smart technology to detect emergent worms and other new threats without waiting for updates.

Antivirus 2006 now includes 12 months of protection updates and new product features as available throughout the year; annual subscriptions available for subsequent renewal (for Windows XP or Windows 2000 only).

Avast
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Its fast, free, many features (checks zip files too) and does not slow up your computer.

Dont bother with norton it will annoy a lot unless you have top of the line computer. I would use Avast otherwise AVG.

If u have the money then go for McAffee they are just as good as norton but less expensive and easier on the computer.

As far as the Antivirus goes...

Go, right now and download AVG Antivirus here: http://www.grisoft.com/doc/Programs/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

Here's a review on it:
http://www.claymania.com/rate-avg.html

It's free... and it works great!

If you're interested in something else, use what I use... Zone Alarm! Download a free version here:
http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm/3000-10435_4-10550364.html?tag=lst-0-2

I really don't know much about Download accelerators, because I really don't use them. But you could probably find out a lot of info at download.com

That's a great site with lots of useful apps and whatnot. Check it out!

BEWARE OF NORTON ANTIVIRUS!!!! Do not buy it... it's crap. It's like the iPod... it's popular, it was the definition of it's kind, but THERE ARE better options.

AVG Free Edition. It is free so no copyright issues and Its free update downloads are reliable. No prob with using it for me and i recommend to my frens.

Note: Spywares and adwares require SUPERAntiSpyware which is also freeware. It clear trojans which Adaware failed to do.

Do have both.
