I have had labor induced twice,
The doctor will give you an iv with medicine and then you will start
going into labor. It went fast with me both times.
If you can get an epadural you will not feel anything but pressure.
Good luck

they will start an IV to adminster the petocene. You can go to the bathroom but not walk the halls.
There will be a monitor gaging the baby's heartbeat at all times and eventually some bright bulb will say they want to use an internal one. if you have followed the heartbeats and there are no dips that frighten you tell them to take a hike.
Contractions are harder when you are induced because your uterus is working harder. Don't fight them work with them and it will be a shorter labour.
As they increase the drip so will the contractions.
Then it's just push the baby out and your work has begun.
Remember each contraction brings you closer to the end product that you have been waiting to meet a long time.
Try to relax as much as possible and if they want to break your water make them wait until you are at 8 cm. Then it's just a matter of minutes.
When you push push down towards your bottom and hold for a count of ten, a couple of these at a time and you'll be a mom in no time.
Congrats!

I don't really have an answer, as I have never been induced, but why are you being induced? Just curious, because it really is best for the baby to remain until he/she is ready to be born. Do you have some health concerns? God created the birthing process to be the best way of introducing a baby to the new world around him/her, and it takes time. Something many people just don't have much of these days. I just wondered.
Hope all goes well, and you have a healthy baby!

It really is not bad... I was induced with my first son... I was a week over due and my cervix had not even softened so I was not dialated at all... because he was so large I was actually induced to have a C-section but was able to give vaginal birth. There really is not any BAD to tell you. I don't think it made labor any better or worse... It wasn't uncomfortable.. and you will have the advantage of knowing when things are going to happened instead of wondering everyday if it is going to be "the day"..:o)
Congratulations!

I was induced last month, and had a great experience. They induced me at 8:00pm on Friday, and I had my baby at 6:13pm on Saturday. The labor was long, but not painful because I had an epidural early. I liked being induced because i felt more in control of my labor.

We just had a child 10 days ago. They gave her petocin at 8am and she didnt feel any pain until 10am when her water broke. We then imediatly called in the nurse and the anisticiaologist administered the epidural. The pain went away in about 15min. Then she waited unitil she dialated to 10cm and the baby was in +2 position, and the contractions were 1min apart. When she was there the doctor game in an she started to push. That was 5pm. The baby was born at 8pm. I think the baby would have been born earlier however the Epidural made my wife to numb to push properly so they cut it back however the pain came back as a result. Now its all worth it!

I had my labor induced also. I was in at 9:30 a.m. and had my baby at 4:15pm. It was a good experience for me. It was hard work but it's a little better when you know you are going to have the baby instead of one day your water breaking and you are at the grocery store or something! Good Luck!
In my opinion you shouldn't have epidural. It has a lot of side effects.

When I had my daughter My water broke and went to the hospital. But after that it just didnt go further. They induced me but she couldnt handle the contractions so they did a c-section. My advice is wait as long as you can to get the epidural. I think if they hadnt given me the epidural as soon, things would have been smoother. I do have to say that contractions with an epidural are a lot stronger than natural ones.
I hope it helps...

I was induced. My labor pains came very slow and when they did start getting bad I got an epidural. I've had 2 kids and neither time was very hard. Just be sure to get that epidural.

I went to the hospital to be induced on a Tuesday night at 38 weeks. My doc told me not to eat after 8p.m. and to arrive at 9p.m. Once we got checked in, put in a room, and hooked up to a i.v., a resident came in to inject a gel to start my labor. That night was horrible! They told me to try and sleep, but they had to take my blood pressure every half hour! They started pitocin around 9a.m. wed. by 11a.m. I was dialated to 4. At that time my doc broke my water. That is when I started to feel contractions but they really weren't too bad. Things went pretty slowly for me. At 8p.m. I was dialated to 6 and my doc said if I wasn't at 7 in an hour he wanted to do a c-section. I didn't want that. My nurse friend told me her sister had Demerol and it relaxed her and sped things up for her, so we tried that, and it did work. (note: Demerol made me very tired and relaxed but did not make contractions less painful) By 9p.m. I was dialated to 7 and couldn't take it anymore - epidural. By the time the epidural was in and working it was 10p.m. and time to push. My 9 lb 2 oz son was born at 10:18 p.m. This is just my experience, I have heard of things going much faster for other people. Hope it helps! Good luck and congratulations!
