The thing that you push around the grocery store and put food in... I have heard it called a bascart, shopping cart, buggy, etc. ALL my life i have called it a "Shopping Carriage" and been made fun of...i don't know where I got that term! Does anyone else call it a carriage??

I call it a cart, but my mom in law calls it a buggy and my step mom calls it a carriage sometims, other times it is a buggy

Shopping cart, cart or buggy... just depends on what comes out. It's a "you hear it when I do" situation with me. :-)

It's actually "supposed" to be called a shopping cart (you are shopping and putting things into your cart) much like the venders who sale produce from their "carts".

But to each his/her own and call it what you want to as long as YOU know what you mean... others will too in most cases... and often pick up on your terminology.

this is a regional thing.. i live in the south and everybody here calls it a cart, shopping cart, carriage, and things along those lines.. however, i was born in the north and lived a few years up there.. we call it a buggy,, they all refer to the samething, so whatever your comfortable saying,, use it. if anybody has a problem with it, tell them that was the way you always have said it........ hope this helps!

when i lived in massachusetts it was called a cart or carriage. i moved to Pensacola, Fl and they are called buggies here.
