To love is to place our happiness in the happiness of another. If there is anything better than to be loved it is loving.

true love to me is when you cannot picture your life without that person in it. You simply know! If you don't its not really love. And no its not always butterflies and that nonsense they try to tote in the movies..... its as simple as a look, a hug, that shared feeling when you both hold your child for the first time.... Its too bad that for some people that feeling doesn't always last...love is something you have to work at all the time ( by that I mean by being respectful and caring, not belittling and scornful if something goes wrong) thats why most marriages fail, people stop working on them and give up at the first sign of trouble.

Well, this is kinda wide open, id say. There's love with parents, your kids, your siblings, friends, families, and lovers. Im assuming, but ive been told all my life, to never assume anything,
Anyway, like i was saying, im assuming you mean love with a partner(man/woman). If it's done like it should be, theres a thing called "unconditional" love, which is standing by their side through thick and thin. Taking them for all their flaws, working together day to day, being partners through it all, but the main meaning of true love is "you would give your life" for the one that you love, its called "Sacrafice"!! THAT...is true love for another!! Good luck getting the answer you are looking for.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:1-13)

an unconditional, selfless dedication to another person, seemingly for no reason. You do not require, expect, or want anything in return. You genuinely care about someone more than yourself, you would never ever hurt them and would do anything for them. I believe its still even more complicated than this, but this is the best I can come up with at the moment.

I feel this is just a chemical reaction in brain. Some day you cannot live without him/her but as time passes by you get inclined to someone else, and if life takes you , then to the third, fourth and fifth also. Then how can we say that which one is real. It seems like some hormone secreted in body when your eye detects his/her image in brain.
