my son wouldn't drink water so i used to give him the childrens juices they do at boots, tesco, etc you can get them ready diluated or not. then once he'd got used to drinking them i started decreasing the amount of juice in the drink and added more water till he was only drinking water. i also changed the beaker i used for him because i think they begin to associate certain things so he had a bottle for milk, an avent trainer cup for juice and an avent sportster beaker for water.

I have a 9 month old. At first, I had to lay her on her back and just squirt water in her mouth. At first, she didn't like it but the more I did it the more she got used to it..then she started liking the idea. Just last night, I bought a sippy cup with two handles on the side and put water in it. I showed her how to drink from it by holding it to her mouth. Then I showed her how to hold the cup. I did this a few times and eventually she got the hang of it and drunk the water on her own. She didn't drink alot though, but she drunk some. I think she was more in love with the fact that she had something new to play with :-) I'll go home later today to see how well she does with water in the sippy cup again. She doesn't like juice much, even when I mix it with water. I refuse to put sugar in my baby's water. Maybe when she gets around 1 years old, but i'm still not sure i'd still do it then. In all, I think I like the sippy cup idea. Try a few of the other suggested methods, and see which one works for both you and your baby.

Try warming the water (bring to the boil in the kettle and let cool) - if your baby is used to warm formula or breast milk it might be the temperature that is putting them off drinking. I would advise you to avoid flavouring or adding juice or squash for as long as possible, water has no taste so it unlikely that your child doesn't 'like' it. My three year old has only recently realised that he likes cold water as well as warm! As mentioned by others, your baby will be getting most of the fluid they need from bottle or breast, so at this stage don't worry if they only have a couple of mouthfuls a few times a day.

Your baby is getting water if he drinks formula. Once the baby is a year old, start with 2 oz bottles. Failing that, get one of those two handled sippy cups and let him bat it around; he'll get the idea and will probably get used to it.
Do NOT flavour his water with any sort of sugar! I wouldn't even mix it with juice.
I'm lucky in that my boys prefer water, then milk to every other beverage they're allowed to have.

You don't need to make him drink water. Your baby is very young and is probably only supposed to be drinking formula or breast milk until 12 months. My doctor had me diluting apple juice with nursery water, but that was definitely after my kids were a year old. Check with your doctor.

some children dont like water...however if you dilute juice about 75/25 (mostly water) the baby will be getting enough water...also you should not give your child well water because of the possibility of sediments in the well.

I use boots organic water flavouring. It's in a little pot and you add a teaspoon to cooled boiled water. My son wouldn't drink water, but loves this. He has the apple and blackberry.
