No it's not trashy to pierce a little girls ears. Who ever told you it is trashy they're so wrong. Girls are cute with earrings and don't let anyone tell you different.

I don't think so. But I also believe in choice. I think girl's should be able to choose to have holes put in their body, not have it decided for them. My eldest decided at 2 and she still loves wearing earrings. My youngest decided at 3, but due to a wierd infection the holes grew up (can't even tell they were ever pierced). Because of the pain from the infection, she doesn't want earrings and I respect that. Unbeknown to me, by sister has the same opinion. I just found out my 3 year old niece had her's done last week and loves them. Most little girls would probably choose to have them, but not all. I figure if they want pierced ears, they'll ask. Until then, I'm happy just the way things are.

I personally don't think it's appropriate to pierce the ears of a baby or a young child who doesn't really know what it means to pierce ears. IMO it is defiling their body without their consent, so that should be done when the child can decide she wants it done for herself. I don't know if I would call it trashy though, just inappropriate.

I don't think "trashy" is the word to call it. There is nothing wrong with it, it may even be easier for her to get used to them. But, my husband and I decided not to. Mostly to let her choose when she is older. When a little girl starts her period she needs to feel special, and know how wonderful this time is. So we are each (separately) taking her out for the day. Dad is buying her a ring and taking her out for lunch. Mom will let her get her ears pierced if she so chooses and take her shopping and/or to lunch. She has always wanted her ears pierced, although she does not know of our plans! Good luck in your decision!

Are you people serious? You are talking about a baby, not even a toddler!
Why in the world would any parent in the right state of mind , want to pierce a few months old baby's ears?
What's the purpose?
She might get an infection, might pull it till the ear bleeds when older, and might hate it when an adult!
Concentrate on making sure she is healthy and happy, thats your main concerne right now, not to pierce an infants ears to make her look beautiful to you!!!

No it's not trashy, just cruel. I walked past a store where a little baby was getting her ears pierced, and she screamed her little head off as it was done. I nearly burst into tears myself. The only reason a baby girl is getting her ears pierced is the mothers own vanity. Do your daughter a favour and let her choose when to get it done. It will be more special that way and make her feel like her opinion matters.

Who ever said it was trashy? I pierced my babies ears at 2 months old. I got tired of people asking if she was a boy or girl. But that's not the reason why I pierced them. I pierced them because I wanted to. It was my own decision and I'm glad I made the decision. She looks adorable with pierced ears.

!!YES!! you should wait for the child to be old enough to decide for itself... why on earth would u want to make a decision like that for your child... so it can be your fashion accessory?!
Piercing is not there to make the piercee look 'cute' yes it changes sumones appearance or alters how a body part functions but at least the person can choose if they want this done. would u get ur baby a tattoo next? u will prob think im stupid to compare ear piercings and tattoos BUT they are both forms of body mod and SHOULD NOT b taken lightly!
im sorry but i feel very strongly about this... have 16piercings so far im am fed up with people takin piercing lightly! how would u like it if sum1 came up to u pierced u sumwhere without ur consent? dont u think the child will b frightened as it doesnt really know whats goin on... plz wait for the kid to be old enough to want it done for herself

My parents had my ears pierced when I was a baby, I don't appreciate that. I'm 25 years old now and I never wanted them pierced, the holes closed up but I have scars on my ear lobes. I think there is a time to have a little girls ears pierced, when she wants it done. and one day she will ask for it if she wants.

I totally agree w slpatt.

When my daughter was born, my husband and I decided we were NOT going to pierce her ears. We would leave that decision up to her when she gets older. Besides, she is her own person; it is not my decision to make. However, I do think it is kind of selfish that the mother would have the baby's ears pierced just because they WANTED them pierced.

When I was a baby my mom wanted my ears pierced, but my father was totally against it and so I didn't have pierced ears until I was fifteen. I thank my father for that every time I put a pair of earrings in. :)
