Are all you liberals just drooling retards? Just from a safety perspective you would think an adult would say "Self, maybe burning a piece of cloth in a classroom full of students may not be a good idea."
Any of you non-infantile adults ever think it would be a good idea to burn a dish rag in your kitchen? Of course not. But liberals, whose brain waves function at the level of a 6 year old girl, think it is just a great idea.
As to the merits of the flag burning as a civic lesson, couldn't he have just shown an internet clip from any day in Berkeley? I don't mind a healthy discussion on this issue, but the fact the teacher thought it was a good idea to physically desecrate the flag tells me he is also introducing an intimidating factor to influence the student's opinion.
There go the liberals again and their "freedom" of speech.
Notice I don't mind the flag burning discussion.

STUPID ,STUPID , STUPID , and illegal .
If flag burning is self expression , I can express myself by putting out the flag and the flag burner with 5 gals of gasoline

I'm glad you brought this up. This is indicative of how confused Americans have become distinguishing symbolism from reality. The flag is a symbol that simply stands in for the U.S. Constitution and the principles that made our country great.
Burning a flag is a dramatic act that can be totally misinterpreted by simpletons who witness it. The freedom to burn the flag (admittedly under safe conditions) is a freedom granted to you in the Bill of Rights.
Flag burning arose as a symbol of a symbol. Fundamental rights and freedoms being destroyed by crooked politicians was symbolically revealed with the act of burning the American flag. Since burning the symbol of the Constitution doesn't kill the Constitution...that freedom is still intact until mindless conservatives forget the foundational principles upon which our country was founded and rollback civil liberties. As conservatives destroy civil liberties, they've moved beyond burning the flag (the symbol)- they are then burning the Constitution (the foundation of liberty).
Flag = symbol
Burning flag = symbol
Constitution = something very worth protecting!
Oh, and if you think about it....that teacher's social studies lesson has just begun!

The flag represents the country and those in it. It is the symbol of all we stand for. If you need freedom of speech and the burning of the flag is your answer then I beleive you are openly declaring war on this country. I don't want to see a law that bans American flag burning, but I don't want to see the Amercian flag burned over a deminstration of an anti-Iraq policy. It is uncalled for and goes to the extreme. It is sad that we even have to consider this as an possiblity. Our parents and grand parents have bleed for that flag, many died. You disrespect their sacrfice just so you can gain a little publicity on what you want? Civic lesson should be about discussing consepts in an honest and poliet manner, or helping this country and offering solutions to problems not just yelling them from the top of your lungs!

A very typical inaccurate rant,as usual.Call all conservatives killers
and there's not enough Kleenex in the world.
I dont condone flag burning, and it is not "liberal" per se at all.
that's the point, you are whining and confusing issues TO DISTRACT ATTENTION FROM CONSERVATIVE ATROCITIES.
But try telling that to a right-wing ideologue who condones murdering pro-choicers for their views.
So much for Freedom of Speech,or whatever subject you're trying to muddy.Reactionaries are so weak, and want everything their way right or wrong like a "six year old girl".

I wonder if this same teacher would have felt the same way about terrorism and the war in the following scenario:
He burns the flag in front of my face in a classroom, I jump up and yell FIRE! Run up Cold Cock him, and put the fire out. Wouldn't that be freedom of speech. It would also allow him to teach a civic lesson in self restraint, after I knocked him out.

I do agree that there could have been a better way to demonstrate freedom of speech.
While I don't know what his lesson included , (how did he explain his actions), but I hope that he also teaches respect for the country in which you live that ALLOWS the amounts of freedoms we (and everyon here) enjoy.
I wonder if I can get away with burning the Mexican flag in my hispanic community....I would probably be thrown in jail for a hate crime.

Fun watching you get all unhinged. I get a kick out of pissing off the Radical Right wack jobs like yourself. Shouldn't you be in Iraq liberating or something? Maybe calling people of other countries names and pissing them off so they come attack us again? You teach your kids name calling? What am I, a Libtard? You stay up all night thinking that one up? You're a POS moron, go listen to O'Reilly and Hannity so you know what to think and do. NEOCONS are robots that can't think for themselves, always need someone filling their brain with talking points.

I really feel sorry for you people. You're always making liberals out to be the "bogeymen" of the world's problems. I just wish some of you had the intelligence to look beyond labeling people and really confront the issues of the day. Blind allegiance will never solve anything, maybe you'll grow up one day and be able to discuss serious matters in an intelligent matter, other than the "liberals are ruining our children" rhetoric.
