I feel safe, but I'm way up North in Canada...and I mean North! Even Canadians think I live up North. I don't have any real fear for my personal safety on a day to day basis because of terrorism.

I do think that the things we take for granted day in and day out in general, can no longer be considered the same way.

I dont live in any of the countries mentioned, in fact, I live in one of the safest countries in the world--Switzerland. I moved here in part wanting to leave behind a lot of the violence I have witnessed and lived through in the USA. And guess what? Just 3 weeks ago I witness a Turkish immigrant try to kill a stranger with an AX!! This kind of thing has never happened here before and probably may not happen again for decades and decades but I had the bad luck to be only a few feet away from the attempted murder (then again the good luck it wasn't me being axed...) So, no matter where you live, in this world of crazy people, you are never safe. However, you should not let that make you paranoid into giving up your civil rights or live a repressed life on account of what may happen. The biggest tragedy is a life not lived just because of fear....

No one is ever safe. You can feel safe but you never know when someone is going to go beserk while you are near them and stab you. Someone could rob a bank while you are in it and shoot you, a plane could crash into your home while you are sleeping, watching TV whatever. A car driven by an elderly person could come at you head on because the driver had a heart attack. John Mark Karr could escape from jail and mistake you for a six year old beauty queen. The water you are drinking could be contaminated. Your food is full of pesticides which are causing cancer. When your number is up it is up and you should never feel safe because this world is very unpredictable. Live each day to its fullest. Carp Diem

Well, I don't spend every waking moment of my life worrying about my safety just because bad things are going on in the world if that's what you mean. I was in NYC dancing salsa in the courtyard of the Twin Towers and shopping in the Twin Towers basement mall just over one month before 9/11 and I flew on a plane one week after 9/11 happened and have flown on a plane several times since. There have been several murders in the city I live in this year, but I have 3 police officers living in my neighborhood, so for the most part, yes, I feel pretty secure.

I refuse to live my life in fear of the unknown, if you do then you are not really living, and that means the terrorists and criminals have truly won.

I think you need to read or listen to the News again. Because you dont know what you are talking about. Sept 11 terrorists were not found in Canada, those terrorists were here on a completely different matter.
jesus man!

No one here gets out alive.
We're all going to die.
The question is not "how will we die?" but rather, "how will we live?".

I choose to live without fear.
I choose to not let terrorists control my life.
I also choose to keep my eyes and ears open for new types of danger.

Look - as we were growing up, our parents instilled fear within us in order to protect us.
The usual fears were:
1. look both ways before crossing the street;
2. don't talk to strangers;
3. don't eat yellow snow.
You get the idea.

The world is different from when we were young.
There are new dangers to be aware of.
Learn.
Adapt.
Live.

And always watch out for your neighbor...God can't be everywhere, all the time...we have to pick up the slack and help each other.

In this uncertain world no-one is safe! Threats are all around us,whether it be terrorists,or the air we breathe.Whatever the threat,we have to live our lives as best we can.
