My wife would love to see the famous tulip fields when they are in full bloom (yes, I know!) What would you say is the best time of year to see them, allowing for the weather as well? And also: are they easy to get to if we were to stay in Amsterdam?

In Netherlands the tulip season is short - between late March and May. So considering the weather also April is a good time to visit. Otherwise a good option is to visit the Kukenhof Tulip Gardens where there is an amazing collection of tulips and other flowers. It is open from end of April to begining of May. A flower show is also held annually at the Gardens. Siince the Garden is located between Amsterdam and the Hague, you can stay at Amsterdam to vitit the tulip fields. The dates of opening and the flower is given in the site below.

In Holland March to May, keep looking in the papers as many companies offer special trips to the bulb fields

Spring is the only time, but the weatherconditions differ every year. I would say end of march, first half of april in general.

I would say in April or May, depending on how warm you want it to be, ect. If you want more info about Keukenhof, go to www.keukenhof.nl.

Dunno exactly, but I know that tulips here in the U.S. usually bloom in spring- between March and May, depending on the weather.
