As you know, applying for Graduate School, they recommend you get atleast one year direct patient contact. How can I do this? Volunteer won't allow me, I don't want to do Phlebotomy, EKG seems like the only thing I can do (The Course is very short) Echo Cardiogram course is too long (about two years) and Medical Assistant is also too long (about an year). what are YOU doing to get this in your record getting into School of Medicine? If you have any more question, please e-mail...

I am currently in my 4th year of med school, and I had absolutely no experience whatsoever including patient contact, research, etc. If yuo can't find something, or if you don't want to /don't have time, don't worry about it. They look at the whole person/packet, not just one thing

See if there is something that you can do over at the Health Clinic on your campus...like workstudy or volunteering your time. Check with Red Cross or even a vet's office. I know that a vet's office may not be what you want be a pet is still a patient.

Volunteers at Children's hospitals can have direct interaction with patients. Also some schools/college have their own First Responder/EMT squads staffed with student trained personnel. You might try checking into these options.

Good luck to you!
