Staying at the Sahara in late Sept for bachelor party. Some of the online reviews scare me a bit; but I am not looking for much other than a place to rest, etc. Is the value worth it; or is it a mistake. Thanks

It's worth it ... rooms are okay, buffet is cheap and I think it's pretty good for the price. They have a great pool, so you can spend your days relaxing and evenings partying. Gambling is pretty good there, too. It's just an old hotel, and it's at the end of the strip.

We stated there this past June. It was decent. They have a reasonable No Limit poker tournament 3 times a day. I think the buy in was $25. Right behind the Sahara is The Drive performance park. Definitely check that out if your into driving. Check out my 360 page for pics of it. The buffet was cheap and not bad selection. With the monorail ending at the Sahara it gets you to all the other places on the strip easy.

I've never stayed there, but have been in it. It did seem pretty old and a little grungy, but if you're just looking for a place to sleep, it's probably fine. The nice thing is that the monorail connects to the Sahara, so you're never more than a few minutes away from the center of the strip. And the Stratosphere is only about a block away, which is pretty neat, especially if you go to the top.
Have a great time!

I don't know. They redid the hotel within the last 6-7 years. I don't know if they did anything to the rooms, but the rest of the hotel looks a lot nicer than it use to. It's not as nice as some places, but it's definitely not a dump. There's always going to be people who complain and won't be happy with something. Maybe some of those reviews are from complainers or people who are comparing it to places like the Venetian.

Old hotel, but a classic. Not super dirty, but not in the center of the action. Has some really good, cheap tables. The monorail stops at it, so it's easy to get to the other hotels. Not too bad if you're driving, easy to access off Las Vegas Blvd. Has a couple of decent, but not amazing restaurants.

Its a very very old hotel, and way at the end of the strip.
The action is in the center of the strip, where you find Caesars, Ballys,Flamingo,Harrahs,Bellagio, Monte Carlo, etc
However if your budget cannot afford those, then you will need to be prepared to cab it to the center. Its a longgg walk, and the weather will still be quite warm.
Mandalay Bay is quite a ways down, and I am sure you will want to make a visit there

Mistake, Hot nad stuffy, air circulation is poor, and it may even be way to cold. No balance in a/c heat system.
The Stratasphere is a better choice.
