Here's a step by step list:

a)Get your transcrips from highschool and college (if you went before).
b)Look at your university choices and see who offers the best program that is suited to your interests (they almost all have websites so you can check it out without calling).
c)Decide if you want to go full/part time.
d)Email for an info packet and apply to several schools. Most only accept students for the fall (some do for in January too, just check).
e) Your best option is to apply several places to ensure entrance into the school.

You can also apply to a program that you think you can get into easier then transfer programs in your second year (I am doing this right now).

Hope this helps.

If you have no higher education you can save some money by going to junior college for 2 years and take your basic classes. You should make an appointment with a guidance counselor at the school to discuss what your goals are, they will then give you a list of classes geared towards your degree in psychology.

You can take your basica psychology courses at the junior college too, which will give you a good idea what you will be dealing with at the upper college level.

Have you decided what you want to do with your degree? If you get a B.S. in Psychology or Behavioral Science, you may go into Social Work. If you go for a Masters Degree it will open up more opportunities for you to counsel and other opportunities. I suggest you go to the library and look at the Occupational Outlook Handbook which will explain the jobs, education, salary, etc., in the field you are interested in. Good luck with your schooling in psychology, it is a great field!

Fill out an admissions application form, and maybe try an internship at a counseling center, mental ward, or community service organization.
