Its said that if you are carrying all in front it will be a girl. If you have a fatter backside it will be a boy. I don't know if its coincidence or not but it worked for me both times, I have a son and daughter.

Congratulations!

The only way to be sure is to have an ultrasound. Even then they can be wrong.

The old wives tales are just that, old wives' tales.

The heartbeat thing - about girls heartbeats being faster than boys - well if that was true my brother should have been a girl! They told my mum from the speed of his heartbeat it seemed to be a girl! Wrong on that count.

I'm having a boy - confirmed at ultrasound scan and I'm glad I found out as its "nice to know who you're waiting for " as my mum puts it. But the old wives tales are not really much help. They work sometimes but its usually just coincidence. There's no scientific basis for proof in any of them.

Only having an amnio which will give you an accurate answer - however.......my boy pregnancies were totally different than my girl pregnancies. This was gaged on my degree of morning sickness, food sensitivty, desire for sex, my skin, how I looked in general, weight gain, etc..... It was completely different with each
sex.

If you know when you conceived, you may be able to "guesstimate". The closer to actual ovulation (or after) you conceive, the higher chance of having a boy. The earlier in your cycle increases the chances of having a girl. Not a definite, but increased chances. Just pray for a healthy baby - that's the most important.

If you just found out then you can't be very far along. But I would wait until you see it on the ultrasound. Some people say if you carry it higher its a girl and if you carry lower it a boy or the other way around but i've known people that have had babies and its different for everyone.

For the Chinese calendar believers. I've found two calendars.
One was by the woman's age at conception and the other was by the age of the mother @ the time the baby is due. I'm 36 now but will be 37 when the baby is due so mine was conflicting...which is it supposed to be?

OMG, am I having a shim?

well unless you are going to find out at your 20 week scan (not always in some places they wont allow it) or go private to find out the sex, you will have to wait until the baby is born.

or you can use ancient theorys but they aint always correct. the one which is meant to be 99% is your age at conception and the year of conception. if one is even and the other odd it is a boy and if they are both either odd or even its a girl.

like i said though these aint 100% and the best bit is waiting for the suprise at the end of 9 months!

when you have a check up and they listen to the heart beat (or get one of those heartbeat monitor thingys) listen to see if it sounds like a horse or a train, lol. If it sounds like a train its a boy if it sounds like a horse its a girl. Seriously this sounds strange but it works. When I had my scan I was told I was having a girl, my midwife said to me that because the heartbeat sounded like a train if i hadnt of said i was having a girl she would have said it was a boy. Well I was calling my bump my daughter after the scan right the way up til the head came out and they told me a few seconds later i had given birth to a boy!!!! Old wives tale? I dont think so, turned out to be more reliable than the scan!!!

They say if you carry it high its a girl and low if its a boy!
*But im carrying my DAUGHTER low! (HaHa)*

They say if your age was even when you conceived that it's a boy!

They say if you have really bad morning sickness then it's a girl!
*This was true to me*

You can search it on the internet too. Like google "how to tell the sex of my baby" (or something like that) and it will give you a million myths!

Congratulation! I lean more towards finding out. It helps with preparing for the baby. The thing you have to remember though is that it's more important to find out if it healthy and keeping it that way or helping it to be. Funny once they're born you wonder why you even cared if they were a boy or girl.
