I have a wedding to attend the Sunday before Labor Day, I want to wear a linen suit, it's a light cream/off white color. Does anyone have any objections?

No, but i would stay away from white/cream. You don't want to steal the bride's thunder. It is HER day.

Those rules really don't apply anymore. Go for it. However an offwhite at a wedding may not be such a good idea.
