Sorry, Hollywood is all fiction and only contains a few, very short strands of truth. Movies are a fantasy--an escape if you will--for most folks. The problem is, people removed from American culture do not realize this, and take the egotistical jewish-controlled film industry as the bona fide example of American culture.

I have never thought about how these stupid movies make us look. Most Americans go to the movies to escape reality. We like to see things that would never happen in our daily lives like great houses and jewelry and sex with very hot people. Car chases, are fun too. With hot cars. We see this in movies and then go back to regular lives that include dull jobs and mowing the lawn for our widowed mothers. Very few movies in America are about real life and are probably not sent overseas because in those movies the actors talk a lot. There would be problems translating everything. A car crash is a car crash in every language.
I actually read this excuse about the translating problem in a magazine about movies. But it seems to me many people know English in other countries and if we put in subtitles they could struggle thru if they tried. I just watched a French movie with subtitles L'Enfant,(The Child) and lived to tell the tale.
Maybe that's the reason a movie like Capote or The Constant Gardener or Cape Fear the new one or the old one I don't care they are both good, won't get shown where you are. Which is where BTW?

American films are generally made in Hollywood, California, by very materialistic, far-left liberals who will produce any kind of trash, including obscene and overblown sex, violence, and foul language for money. They DEFINITELY do not represent America, but they do exert a very negative influence, and drag some Americans down to lheir low level. Years ago, my wife and I went regularly to the movies and could always find a good one. Now we go to the library for old ones on DVD, because the new ones are so bad.

great question,i doubt that very much the representation the film industry gives of America cant be accurate,or else all Americans would be vapid money hungry and violent which isn't the case i think you should take what you see on the big screen with a grain of salt i don't know the exact statistics but those type of people are a small percentage of American society, for the most part Americans are just people who go to work pay their taxes like everybody else, the one thing i know of American society is their fascination with fame and celebrities...that much is true

What's interesting to me is that it is the decadence of Hollywood that causes such disdain for American culture in fundamentalist nations and religions. Indeed, Hollywood, which is undoubtedly part of the American left, is a major cause hatred of America by these countries and groups and is more than just a minor contributing factor to the attacks against us. If Hollywood did produce pictures that more reflected mainstream American values, there would not be as much hatred for us in the world as there is today.

American films , I regret to say, represent the Hollywood view of America. With all Barbie like women and men with abs you can count and mansions galore with manicured lawns and stories about who did what to whom. The rest of America works 2 or 3 jobs to pay the rent and gas bills , walk around with teeth that have to be fixed. Overweight because they eat cheap fast food or grits . Sick people who can't afford medicine or doctor care and old people who aren't respected.. Even if Hollywood made a movie of all this they would have to put Jessica Sympson in it.

No. not at all. Films are made by a small sub-section of society who live in a very insular, self absorbed world. Because they are obsessed with casual sex, materialism, drugs and ego gratification they think everyone is like that.

Just about every film I have see that tries to depict normal people or families is laughably off base.

Remember .. films are generally about extremes. No one would be interested in watching a movie about people acting "typical". With the freedom of expression we are allowed in America this sometimes is taken to an extreme but we in America are very aware that "movies are not real life".

What do you think??? Are the films in your country a representation of the REAL life there?? Probably not. Same with American TV, it's over-done to sell to the consumer (the viewing audience).

absolutely not. theres so much poverty in america that you do not see in our movies. We have homeless families throughout our country. Every family doesnt live in a large home, have great paying jobs with large corporations. We dont all drive brand new cars. sex in movies is mainly a teenage movie thing. Family relationships are very important to Americans. unfortunately if Americans were depicted accurately in movies it would be a flop, because people go to movies to dream, to escape their mundane uneventful lives. That's why movies are so different than our lives.
