Lord of the Rings
I like Star Wars too, but you can't really consider it a trilogy because there are 6 parts to it.

The tri-trilogy of Star Wars.
The second series in the tri-trilogy was Star Wars parts four five and six.
Star Wars IV: A New Hope
Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi
Then came the first of the series in parts one, two and three.
Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace
Star Wars II: Attach of the Clones
Star Wars III: Revenge of teh Sith
The third and finial of the series will be parts seven, eight and nine.
Star Wars VII: As Yet title not released
Star Wars VIII: As Yet title not released
Star Wars IX: As Yet title not released
George is really thinking hard about when to start this last series because he wants those that saw the first one to be able to see the conclusion of the story as he sees it but doesn't want to bring it out too soon. It has to be timed just right.

I have to go with Lord of the Rings. Excellent movies. The best trilogy I've seen in awhile, with the exception of the original Star Wars, which was a little before my time.
