They take a 5 game series from the Red Sox, which some people on here thought they wouldn't win any. Then I read someone's answer saying they are overrated and they may not even make the playoffs! What planet do you people live on? The Tigers, they are such a great team, but the Yanks being 4 games behind them in total record, suck.

The Yanks record since the break 25-12, Tigers 22-16. Head to Head Yanks took 3 out of 4, when the Tigers were playing their best and at home. I like to see the Tigers do well but some people are crazy.

Hey Redsoxfan, that is a typical Red Sox fan answer. The Yanks almost always give it to the Sox and their argument is always the same. Thx for the predictable answer!

Right now, I totally agree. The Yankees do not look overrated to me, they look scary. They have been on the tear you cited since the All Star break, going 25-12. I think many feel with the payroll the Yankees have, they should win every year. That's a little bit too critical however. I'm not a Yankees fan but I appreciate great baseball and the recent series with the Red Sox was a thing of beauty. Yankees fans have every reason to be excited right now about this teams chances this year.

The Yanks will make the playoffs. They will not have the best record, though. I admit that the Tigers have young pitchers that may get tired and start losing, but the Yanks need better pitching. The White Sox, however, may have the best record at the end of the season.

The Yanks need better pitching and the upcoming roadtrip will be a disaster. They went to the west without a day off, so they'll lose in Seattle. Then they go to Anaheim or Los Angeles or California or wherever the Angels play. The Yankees never seem to win against them. In fact, the Angels are the only team with a winning record against the Yankees since Torre became the manager.

1) Ignore the Red Sox fan. His team generates as much or more revenue than ours. He's just jealous that his owner and front office won't spend any money. They've still got the second highest payroll in baseball. It's not like they're the Florida Marlins.

2) The Tigers are garbage. If they played in the NL East they'd be looking up at the Blue Jays. The Central is a joke compared to the East. Thats why everybody has 'East Coast Bias', because its true. The Tigers are another young, green team... like the Oakland A's were in the late 90's when they annually made the playoffs and lost to the Yankees.

3) A lot of people love to hate on the Yankees because their teams will never be what the Yankees are. Anywhere you go, you can find Yankees fans. And that pisses people off too.

Look at our team right now. Damon's having maybe a career year, Jeter's a candidate for the MVP, Bobby Abreu is hitting close to .400 since the trade, Giambi's on pace for about 45 homers this year, A-Rod's having a terrible year but showing signs of busting out, Posada's returned to form after last year, Robinson Cano might be the best offensive second baseman in the American league. He's batting .327, and has 17 RBIs in 14 games since coming off the DL. Even Bernie Williams is batting .280 and looking solid.

And as for pitching, who don't we match up with? Mussina and Wang are a bonafide 1-2 punch this year, Johnson, even with his struggles has won 14 games. Corey Lidle looks great since coming over and has playoff experience.

And the newest word is that Carl Pavano should be back in early September. He's progressing nicely and might be able to be our 5th starter the rest of the way. If he comes back throwing the ball well, we're completely unstoppable.

Do I think they are over rated the answer is NO. How could a team that has been in the playoffs every year for the past 11 years be over rated (unless you are the Braves and you are in the playoff for the last 14 years and win one World Series). Are they over paid yes they are but no more then any other team? Hey Red Sox fans you have the second highest payroll in baseball. Oh, that’s right you won the World Series in 2004, let’s stop the presses and give this team all the dues they are the greatest team ever to not win the division. I think the Yankees can afford to pay a higher salary and also give players the one thing they want and that’s a chance at a title. Remember the Yankees don’t have the highest paid player at any position other then A-rod and the Yankees didn’t sign him. Oh and Red Sox fans at least A-rod can field unlike your two best sluggers Ramirez and Ortiz couldn’t play the field if they played in a ½ a bathroom. So no the Yankees are not over rated, and this coming form a Philadelphian who hates all New York Teams.

Because if you are not a Yankees fan, you are a Yankee hater. The Yankees could win 10 world series in a row, and the world outside the "Empire" would still find something wrong to say.

It's like anything else in society...people love to hate a winner. Everyone says the Yankees are store bought...but Jeter, Cano, Cabrera & Posada (along with Mariano, Wang, Phillips) are all home grown.

But when you are winning, if you are not a fan, then you hate to see the same team have success every year, when there are 31 other teams that struggle to stay successful every season.

In one word, it's called Jealousy!

how could people say the YANKEES are overrated when they go out and win?i mean that just non-sense! if the Yanks are overrated, then how come they can catch up the AL east race when they were way behind the red sox? the Yanks always find their way to make to the playoffs, they always play with 100% confident...people are just jealous about the YANKEES winning all the time and always showing high lights on every sports channel...if their record were terrible like D-Rays,Royals..then u can say they're overrated or whatever..but if u're saying it now, Ithat just non sense..cuz U'RE JEALOUS ABOUT OUR TEAM!!!

The ridiculous thing is that Red Sox fans say we buy all our players when they have the 2nd highest payroll in the MLB. They could have easily kept Johnny Damon. We didn't steal him from you, you gave him to us. Who the hell draws a line a 3 years, $10 million for a starting center fielder when you know there are plenty of other teams out there who want him. And Theo could have easily bought Abreu, he just didn't want to give up "his future".

Lemme guess, that future will probably end up sucking for about another 84 years. Quit saying we're overrated when in fact, The Red Sox are overrated. 5 GAME SWEEP AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because they are way too overrated, along with the millions and millions of dollars they pay their players.Well you are a typical Skanee fan, asking some dumbass question like this, being all ignorant and actin like an sleazeball. Its not my fault I state the truth, the Yankees are so old and overrated, you pay all your players way too much god damn money and they do not do what they are expected to do, and all yankee fans are just plain mean spirited people. If your team wins its all "oh the yankees beat so and so and blah, blah."Who truly cares??I don't and their are alot of people on here that do not either.I do not come on here and bash Yankee fans unless they start running their mouth first and talking trash about the Red Sox.I would not be a good fan if I did not stick up for my team, the Sox are in a slump and you see alot of people disappear and not come on here, not me!!I'm a proud Red Sox fan, I don't care how bad they are losing, I don't hide.If you talk crap about the Sox, and I don't care if you are a Mets fan or Angels fan or Yankee fan, if you are dissing my team, you better bet your *** I will respond!!!

The Yankees are overrated if you look at salaries, but games aren't won by paychecks.

NY's pitching is still suspect. They won the series in Fenway hitting the ball and killing the boston pen. They've got a tough West coast swing now and LAA always kills us. We come home to Detroit then, which will be a tough series as well.

Fortunately for NY, September's schedule isn't as rough and we should be able to win the ALEast again.

The Yankees will always be overrated as long as they don't win the World Series. They have the best team money can buy and should win the World Series every year. The years they win the World Series they are not overrated. The years they don't win they are.
