Try freezing it... and chipping as much off as you can.
Then take an iron and a towel or rag that you don't want anymore. Place the rag over the trousers.... and turn the iron to the hottest temp..... press light and see how much gum you can get off. Keep moving the rag to a clean stop and pressing. Make sure you don't use the same spot on the towel or you'll get melted gum ever where. Keep doing it until all the gum is out.
Soak the garment in Tide and rewash.
This works on stronger fabrics... if the fabric is very soft or delicate. You might just have to give up and throw it out but it's worth trying to save them.

There's stuff at the store called "Goof Off" that will take it out. If they are only work trousers, than might I suggest using a little paint thinner, or gasoline, but dont mix the two.
The chemicals in them will eat away the gum and it will pretty much just flick right off. Other stuff you can try are OxyClean, Rubbing Alchohol, or other similar things. Just whatever you do, do not mix the chemicals togeather, you could create some nasty poisonus vapors that could seriously hurt you.

Another method is to try heating the spot of gum up, and rub it. It should stick against itself when you try and roll it off.

These poor work trousers of yours are either in freezer or getting treated - when do you get the time to wear them and dirty them. Have you not learned from the last time you did that

I know this sounds silly ,but get some peanut butter ,put some on the gum and it will take it out.It works in the hair too.My grand children got it on my new car and the peanut butter took it off my seats. The peanut butter has oils in it that helps to loosens up the gum.

Try using some peanut butter, it has some kind of chemical reaction that breaks down gum. Then try ice cubes, if that don't work take it to dry cleaner and let them get it out.

2. Place an ice cube in a plastic bag.

3. Apply the ice to the gum, allowing the gum to freeze until quite hard.

4. Gently scrape away the gum with a dull knife.

If it doesn't work try this: http://www.housemakers.co.uk/epages/Housemakers.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Housemakers/Products/158020100&gclid=CJvD483t9YYCFRS4EAodnXYnVg
