1. can algebra be used to rewrite fxn so that diff can be easier ?
ex. y=cos(x)/(x+1)^2 y' is found using qoutient rule but...
y=cos(x)*(x+1)^-2 y' is now found using product rule
2. can other techniques such as logarithmic differentiation
simplify fxn ?
3. the less steps required to completely diff. the less chance for
error

off the record: i never liked nor used the quot. rule good algebra can often simplify the prob by reducing the complexity of the diff. rule used
