What makes you 'beleive' GOD exists?

There is no question of God being important or not. Its like saying why is existence important. Without existing, who will ask that question?

The Supreme Lord is everything. His energy is the cosmic manifestation we think is our home. His energy is our bodies that we think are ours and we think are us. His energy is the thought and the ability that allowed you to use your brain and your body and your computer to ask this question. His energy is allowing you to draw each breath, digest your food, keep your heart beating, and your senses working. His energy is the happiness you feel when His energy gives you what you desire. His energy is what forces us all to bow down at death. And we are His energy, tatastha-sakti, His marginal potency, that now wallows in the filth of material life thinking we are very happy. And it is His plenary expansion in our hearts, Paramatma, that accompanies us through each of our births to give us the chance of waking us up again to knowledge of Him so we can go back to Godhead.

god is important because he taught us to love each other.
But very many people do not follow his words.

I believe he exists because it seems that we are all in a rat race to get the best out of our lives - survival of the fittest.
But we still manage to do mostly the right things and manage to create the most beautiful things. How is it possible if we do not have love for each other. Some Tsunami rescuers worked 100 hours in frenzy sleeping only to gain enough strength to carry on!!! That is the GOD in ALL OF US.

I am Buddhist but to answer your question doesn't pertain only to Christians. Man prides himself as being master of his world, we can endure in all parts of the globe, provide ourselves with food and shelter and do many wonderful things and it crushes our intellect with the idea that it will all end with death. Whether God exists as you or I believe, we have both created an idea of a future after death so that our mortal existence was not wasted but had true meaning. In the Christian faith, the churches have imposed the idea that you have a single existence and your earthly conduct is critical to enter heaven. In the Buddhist faith, we believe that we pass through different lives so as to purify the soul before we can enter heaven. If you are evil on earth as a Christian then you will go to hell, but Buddhists believe that we have to learn and have to repeat lives so as to improve, so we have no hell as such (but life on earth can be a sort of hell too). The real question becomes did God create man or did man create God?

The mountain of evidence (not counting the Bible) recounting the events of the Old Testament and the documentary evidence concerning the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ which stacks MUCH higher than the documentation concerning the voyages of Christopher Columbus to the New World. Try Googling "Christian evidences" and find out just how many books have been written to show how much proof there is -- independent of the Bible -- that the Bible is accurate.

God is most important to you, because you are afraid that your "little life" is not enough. You think.."there must be something more!!" So, you believe.."no matter how much this sucks...there will be bliss in the afterlife!!!" Good luck with that. I wish you all the best. Me?? I'm going to enjoy myself as much as possible, be the best person I can, and not waste time on this nonsense.

because God is love... and love is everything. love for yourself, and the person next to you. God created our system, the way the world works, and the natural balance. God is beyond human comprehension.

I LOVE MY RELIGION. its ISLAM. Muslims. Its the only hardest realigon that pisses Americans, especially Jews all the time. Now I am saying this because of "freedom of religion"
But according to the islamic law, if you lower yourself for the sake of religion god will show whose god. When you compare TYPICAL AMERICAN LIFE with ISLAM or MUSLIM religion, it totallly makes sense.

Its a religion with yoga built in, exercise, its free. and It pisses a lot of EDUCATED AMERICANS. ;-)
