Try to see that person again, to make things clear for yourself, if you have a chance. This way you can protect your emotions from digging any deeper into what appeares to be nothing in this case and erase any chance of a mistake. Rule number one is to be perfectly clear of the prospects because you are probably still hoping, subconsciously, that something isn't the way it looks. Also your subconsciouslness maight be telling you that you haven't tried hard enough or you did something wrong. If love has a tiny chance out of 1 billion, it will take advantage of you. That's the way it works, and you have to find a way around it. You don't seem absolutely sure about "never seeing him/her again", or are you? If you are, try to finetune your thoughts about this person to a filmstar or something simlilar, i.e. someone you adore but can never have. You can still think about them, but separate from yourself. It may be a longish process but it should work. Also you might like to look into the prospect of staying friends if you think it's will be better for you and this other person wants to, but it's a tricky one. You can't leave yourself to having exactly the same life you've had until now, because you must have some new goals to aspire to. They may be tiny, big, a new routine, a new hobby, a new anything, that you can list in your own plan of goals, short and long term. You shall have to see youself progressing towards those goals to be happy and fulfilled, you could even start a dairy and list every little bit you have achieved. All the best.

ooh, harsh........But all the same, man. Don't deal with it, embrace it as an old friend. Being in love is the best feeling in the world, but a horrid feeling if you know you can't see that person. You need to stay strong and live your life like normal. Soon, love will become such an inherent part of you that you will feel normal after a few weeks. You'll be as right as rain. I guarantee it.

Hope all goes ok for you mate!

This is tough, it really hurts and you will probably obsess, but only time makes it go away, absense does help, at least they are not in your face every day. That's worse, seeing them all the time but knowing you can't have them.

If you had a good time together just treasure that memory and put it down to a good experience.

Guess you just learn to live with it. You can't forget over night, but it will get better over time.
